Inspired by Nature

When taking a walk through the vineyards behind the house, you may find a little "whomping willow" straight from the set of Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets. But much, much smaller. That's how a dry root, upside down, can take on new life and inspire you with new stories ...

A cat looking at a window

Surely one of the things that feed my "mental luggage" of ideas are nature walks. The hat of an acorn becomes the top of a tiny lantern, a half-kernel of walnut turns into an elf boat, so the root of a sun-dried and upturned plant becomes a fantastic tree. As I pick it up and look at it, a hundred thousand things come to mind. Maybe a miniature of a set for my first stop motion short? Who knows, maybe one day ...

Fervid imagination

“But how do you manage to see things that are not in what you find on the ground? What do you see?"

Who knows, I've always done that. Perhaps because I had the privilege of living my childhood without too many whims. We had a house, two cars (actually three, considering the old jeep without doors that was used for a single playful purpose and strictly in the summer!), the fridge was always full and very often many people at dinner. I remember well how my mother juggled perfectly between pots, ovens, stoves, food processors, preparing an industrial quantity of courses, from the rich selection of appetizers, then two or three first courses, double second courses, triple side dishes, the dessert !!! Yes, in short, we ate (delicious) leftovers for three days to follow!!! Although we could certainly consider ourselves lucky for everything we had, there were no whims, there was no "more". Very few toys, many markers, a lot of imagination. I started back there, as a child, to build what I needed: fairy pins like Lulu of Flowers one, magic wands to transform my reality, witch potions, squeezing the filters of the felt-tip pens into the numerous glass bottles of multiple shapes and sizes, which our cellar was teeming with. Well, it all started like this ...

So nice you just can't stop

Sometimes I would lock myself in my room for hours, painting, creating with Dash, making collages, experiments, even playing with home hardware. Everything could become something else. I spent the whole day inventing and when I was called to the table for dinner, it was very difficult for me to interrupt my "creative moment", thus breaking the spell. Even now, very few things can make me feel the same way as "creating" something.

Am I really a creative person?

“Are you sure that you are truly a creative person? Don't you ever think that something more would be needed to be able to affirm it with certainty? "

I've been asking myself this question for years and have come to a conclusion: I'm probably not an artist, but I'm definitely a creative person. A creative mind is a mind that creates, transforms one thing into another and sometimes it does it discreetly, sometimes it is a colossal flop, sometimes it comes really well. I don't think the beauty or perfection of the object you create is so important as the very fact of giving life to something. If it makes you feel good, if it makes you forget to look at the clock ... then it's good for you. And that certainly works for me.
